Answers to Frequently Asked Questions about ILLiad and EZBorrow

What is ILLiad? What is EZBorrow?

Temple uses two interlibrary loan services which are free to patrons: EZBorrow and ILLiad. EZBorrow supplies books and DVDs from regional institutions. As a benefit of this proximity, materials usually arrive within 3-5 business days.

We source materials through ILLiad from libraries around the world. Types of resources available include books, digital materials, and multimedia. Delivery time depends on lender location and availability.

What kind of material may I request?

Material availability is dependent upon how many suppliers are able to lend items to us. EZBorrow can be used to request books and DVDs. Use ILLiad to request books, digital materials, and multimedia. A complete list of the types of items that can be provided can be browsed in the drop-down menu on the ILLiad portal.

We are not able to request full digital books, however we can request up to two chapters in a work as defined by copyright fair use. For full access to these materials we suggest reaching out to a librarian on library chat.

The system says I am blocked. How did this happen?

In order to maintain relationships with our lenders, we may block a patron if their material becomes significantly overdue. If this case, please contact us for help.

My ILLiad login is not working.

Here are a few tips to help you login to ILLiad:

  • Verify you are using this link.

  • Make sure you are using your current temple password and not an old one saved by your browser. Your username should be your email address (e.g. tuk03559) without the “@temple.edu” part.

  • Try using a different browser or clearing the cache of the current browser.

If this has not solved your issue, please feel free to contact us

How may I ask for a renewal?

Renewals may be requested in the ILLiad portal by clicking renew under checked out items or by contacting us via email. EZBorrow items are not eligible for renewal. Renewals are up to the discretion of the lender and are not able to be guaranteed.
